Easily the most common question here, and the honest answer is often yes. A machine that takes four minutes to reach the desktop is usually not worn out, it is a mechanical hard drive doing its best. An SSD and a clean install is the cheapest transformation in computing. When it genuinely is not worth it, I will say so and you will not be charged for finding out. See repairs.
Blue screens, a spinning dot that never stops, or straight to a repair loop. It looks terminal and usually is not. Nearly always a failing drive, a bad update or a corrupted boot record, and in that order of likelihood. Your files come off first, before anything is attempted, so nothing gets lost proving a theory.

A lot of Stopsley housing is solid-walled and laid out long and thin, which is close to the worst case for a single router sat by the front door. The fix is placement and sometimes one access point, not a plug-in extender, which halves your speed and leaves your phone clinging to the wrong network. See WiFi and networking.
Microsoft does not ring people. Nor does BT, nor your bank's fraud team asking you to install anything. If someone was given remote access, the machine needs going over properly and passwords need changing from a different device, in that order. This is the one thing on this page I will always take seriously rather than reassure you about.

Home visits are the default here rather than the exception. Most of what goes wrong on a home machine is easier to sort in the house, because half the problem is normally the broadband, the WiFi or the printer rather than the computer itself, and none of that travels with the laptop.

Often yes. Age matters far less than what is actually wrong. A seven-year-old machine with a mechanical hard drive usually feels new again with an SSD for well under the price of replacing it. If it is genuinely beyond sensible repair I will tell you, and I will help you get the files off it either way.
Disconnect it from the internet, and change your important passwords from a different device, not that one. Then get it looked at properly before it goes back online. Do not just run a scan and assume that is that.
