Is your website actually working for you?

Put the address in. Ten seconds later you get a plain-English report, and nobody asks for your email.

Works on any public website, not just ones I built. I keep a note of which addresses get checked, and nothing else.

What it looks at

Twelve things, all of them measurable

No opinions about your colour scheme. These are facts a browser or a search engine can verify, which is why the result is worth something.

Secure

Whether the padlock is real, whether people typing the address without https get upgraded automatically, how long the certificate has left, and whether anything on the page still loads insecurely and quietly breaks it.

Works on a phone

Whether the page is built to adapt, or renders as a shrunk-down desktop site. Most of your visitors are on a phone, so this one decides whether the rest matters.

Fast enough

How long the server takes to answer, and how heavy the page is before a single image loads. Slow sites lose people who never tell you they left.

Findable

Title, description, headings, a sitemap, and whether there is structured data telling search engines and AI assistants your hours, prices and location instead of leaving them to guess.

Shareable

Whether a link to your site posted on Facebook or WhatsApp shows a proper preview with a picture, or arrives as a bare grey link nobody clicks.

Contactable

Whether there is a tappable phone number or email on the front page, and whether there is a form for the people who will never ring.

Being straight about it

What this is not

It is not a judgement on how your site looks. A site can pass every check here and still be ugly or confusing, and a lovely site can fail half of them. This measures the plumbing.

A good score is not a guarantee of anything. It means the technical basics are right, which is the floor rather than the ceiling. Being findable and being chosen are different problems, and the second one is about reviews and reputation.

What I keep. The address you check and the result are noted, so I can see whether this is worth maintaining. Your IP address is not recorded and nothing identifies you. If you fill in the enquiry form after a result, that is the only point at which you have given me anything about yourself, and it comes to me as an email rather than going onto a list. See the privacy policy.

If it turns up something you would like fixing, that is what I do — web design, SEO and marketing, or just ask me. And if it comes back clean, it comes back clean.

Free health check — find out what is actually wrong

Tell me what is playing up, or send me your web address. You get back one page: what is slow, what is insecure, and what Google cannot see. If the answer is that you do not need me, I will say so.
