Dog grooming · Luton and Dunstable
Tell us the breed and you get the price, how long it takes and when the coat will be due again. One dog in the salon at a time, no cage dryers, and what happens to a matted coat written down before you arrive instead of argued about afterwards.
Nothing on this page sends a message or takes a payment, and there is no card field anywhere in it.
Price your dog
A groom is priced on the coat, not the dog's weight. A smooth-coated staffie and a bichon of the same size are not the same job, and the second one takes twice as long. Pick the breed below and you get the price, the time it takes and when we would want to see the coat again.
Pick the closest coat. If you are not sure, ring us and describe it, that is a thirty second conversation.
Be honest here. It changes the time much more than the price, and we would rather know before the dog is on the table.
What we do
Most people ask for a full groom when a bath and brush would do, or the other way round. The price panel above picks the sensible one for the coat, and we will say so on the phone too.
Most booked
The whole job. Bath, blow dry, brush out, clip or scissor to the length you want, and finished off properly.
Double coats only
For retrievers, shepherds, huskies and anything else that drops its undercoat twice a year.
Between grooms
No clipping. A wash, a proper dry and a full brush out, for coats that are keeping their shape.
For wire coats: schnauzers, westies, border and Lakeland terriers. Pulled out by hand so the colour and texture come back properly instead of going soft.
Three short visits from twelve weeks, before anything really needs doing. The point is that the table, the noise and the dryer stop being frightening.
Put the breed into the panel above. It will pick the service that suits the coat and grey out the ones that do not, with the reason. A double coat should never be clipped and a wire coat should not be scissored, and a website can say so before anybody books the wrong thing.
Matted coats
If a coat has matted down to the skin it cannot be brushed out. Not slowly, not carefully, not for extra money. Pulling a solid mat off a dog hurts, and it can tear skin that has already gone sore underneath.
So the honest answer is that a badly matted coat gets clipped short, and it will look shorter than you were expecting. That is not us taking a shortcut, it is the only option that does not hurt the dog. We would rather you read that here than hear it from us while you are holding the lead.
De-matting is charged by the time it takes, in fifteen minute blocks, and it is capped. Once we hit the cap we stop and clip, because past that point we are charging you to hurt your dog.
| Coat on arrival | Extra time | Extra cost | What we do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brushed and loose | None | £0 | Groom as booked |
| Tangled in places | 15 min | £8 | Work through it, keep the length |
| Matted in patches | 30 min | £18 | Clip out the patches, keep the rest |
| Matted to the skin | Capped | £18 | Clipped short. We ring you first |
The price panel adds this automatically when you tell it the coat is matted, so there is no surprise on the invoice either.
Almost never neglect. Nearly always one of these four:
Ask on your next visit and we will show you on your own dog. It takes two minutes and it saves you money, which is an odd thing for us to say and the reason we say it.
Book a slot
This is the bit most booking forms get wrong. A pug is fifty minutes and a Newfoundland is three and a half hours, so a diary that offers everyone the same half hour slots is worse than no diary at all. Change the breed in the panel above and watch the options below change with it.
Two dogs from the same house can be booked back to back and we will hold the second slot for you. Nothing here is sent and no deposit is taken.
First visit
Ten minutes on the first visit, once, and then we have it. It is not paperwork for its own sake: half of it is what keeps your dog safe and the other half is what stops us guessing.
Fill it in at home and the first appointment starts on time instead of at the desk.
Reminders
Rebooking is the whole business. A groomer with a full diary is a groomer who remembered to ask, and the interval is set by the coat rather than by a standard six weeks.
| Coat | Due again | Why | Reminder |
|---|
Worked out from the same breed table as the price panel, so the interval you were quoted is the interval you get texted about.
What owners say
She rang me before she started, said the coat was worse than I thought and told me exactly what it would look like. Nobody has ever done that. I said yes and it was the right call.
He is fifteen and deaf and he cannot stand for long. They do him in two goes with a sit down in between and they never once made me feel like a nuisance for asking.
Last place shaved my retriever in July and it grew back like cotton wool. These told me why that happens and de-shedded him instead. Wish I had found them first.
Demo content. On a live site these would be the owners' own words from Google. They are deliberately kept out of this page's structured data because Sudsworth does not exist.

Sudsworth does not exist. Everything you have just used does. The breed table, the price and time, the duration-aware diary, the rebooking intervals and the matting policy all run in the page, with your prices, your breeds, your opening hours and your rules.
If you groom for a living, the two things on this page that win work are the price with a time attached and the matting policy in writing. Owners are ringing round asking "how much for a cockapoo" and getting "it depends" from everybody. Be the one whose website answers.
More demos at reganit.uk/demos, including a garage, a landscaper, a salon and two cleaning companies.
