What we do
Everything short of a full rebuild
Two ramps, a four-wheel alignment rig and manufacturer-grade diagnostic kit for every mainstream make. If it is beyond us we will say so and point you to someone who can.
Servicing
Interim, full and major schedules to manufacturer intervals, stamped in the book. Keeps a new-car warranty intact.
Brakes
Pads, discs, calipers, handbrake cables and fluid changes. Squealing and a soft pedal both get looked at the same day.
Clutches and gearboxes
Clutch kits, slave cylinders, dual-mass flywheels and gearbox oil. Manual and automatic, most makes done in a day.
Diagnostics
Engine management, ABS, airbag and hybrid systems read with dealer-level kit, then traced properly rather than guessed at.
Air conditioning
Re-gas, leak testing and anti-bacterial cleans for both R134a and R1234yf systems. Sorted while you wait.
Tyres and alignment
Budget to premium, fitted same day, plus four-wheel alignment. Free tread and pressure check any time you are passing.
Batteries and electrics
Charging faults, alternators, starters, wiring and stop-start batteries coded to the car. Free battery test.
Cambelts and exhausts
Timing belts and water pumps to schedule, plus DPFs, catalytic converters, sensors and mid-sections.
MOT testing
Booked in, tested, and told straight
The maximum a garage may charge for a class 4 car MOT is set by the DVSA at £54.85. Ours is £45, and the test is done on our own ramp, in front of you if you would rather wait.
- Free retest if you leave the car with us and we finish the repair within ten working days.
- Advisories explained in plain English, with how long you have realistically got.
- A fail is never quietly turned into a repair bill. You get the price first.
- Free text and email reminder a month before it is due next year.
When is mine due?
A new car needs its first MOT three years after it was first registered, then every year after that. Put your reg in at the top of this page and it will tell you the exact date.
Can I drive to the test?
Yes, if the appointment is already booked. Driving with an expired certificate is otherwise a £1,000 fine and invalidates most insurance policies, so book before it runs out rather than after.
MOT and service together
Cheaper and quicker than two visits, and anything the test picks up gets sorted while the car is already on the ramp. Most people book both from the same slot.

What we will not do: add anything to the bill you did not agree to, charge diagnostic time twice, or fit a part you do not need to hit a target. If the honest answer is that it will last another year, that is the answer you get.

Questions
The things people ring up and ask
Will servicing here void my new car warranty?
No. Since the 2010 block exemption rules an independent garage can service a car under warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses parts of matching quality. We stamp the book and keep the invoices, which is all a dealer can ask for.
How long does an MOT take?
Around 45 minutes to an hour for a class 4 car. There is a waiting area with decent coffee, or leave it with us and we will text when it is done.
What if it fails?
We ring you with exactly what failed and what it will cost before we do anything. If you leave the car with us and we complete the repair within ten working days, the retest is free. You are also completely free to take it elsewhere for the repair.
Do you work on hybrids and electric cars?
Yes. The workshop is IMI-qualified for high-voltage systems, so hybrid and EV servicing, brakes, tyres, air-con and MOTs are all done here rather than sent away.
Can I supply my own parts?
Yes, and we will fit them at our normal labour rate. The warranty then only covers our labour, not the part, so we will usually tell you honestly if the part looks like a false economy.
Do you do fleet and business servicing?
We look after several local trades' vans on monthly invoicing, with priority booking and a courtesy vehicle to keep you working. Ring and ask for the fleet rate.
